The show filmed two versions of the pilot due to the unexpected outcome of the 2016 Presidential election. As the production had erroneously assumed that Hillary Clinton would be a shoo-in, a second version was shot with Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) staring incredulously at her television screen as the announcement that Donald Trump had become the 45th President of the United States. For the duration of The Good Wife (2009), Diane even had a (photoshopped) picture of herself and Hillary on her office wall.

Brilliant storytelling in Season 1, but then overly political ... and not as fun

Many times I've thought that this one of the best programs on TV. It is has great acting, clever witty dialog and great stories. Like its predecessor, The Good Wife, many of the storylines are enticing food for thought.

The only critique I have is that the show can get overly political. At some point, it stops being compelling story telling and sounds like a rant. It may be a rant I agree with but ... it's just not fun to watch. It feels like I'm re-living yesterday's news instead of breaking new ground.

The writers can be brilliant so I hope they get some a fresh ideas for the next season. Let's get some new unpredictable storylines and interesting cases ... it'll be great for the show.
