Send in the Clowns
With the influx of killer clowns recently, it is great to see a couple
of clowns that are actually funny! Don't get me wrong, this is not a
movie for the kiddies. These clowns are like Bad Santa. Drugs, booze,
sex and gambling. But this short film never lets up. A sad and lonely
child's life is changed by a visit from Marbles the clown on his
birthday. Cute scene of the two interacting left me wanting more. Fast
forward to the same kid, now an adult and now a clown with a serious
gambling problem. Jimmy Shay 'the clown' is hilarious as he spews
deadpan wisecracks at the mob. The three mob goons are as menacing as
they are inept and it plays out well. Some familiar faces of the
Chicago independent film scene including Tony Marino (The Icing),
Portia Chellelynn (Candie's Harem) and Joe DeBartolo (Cellar Secret).
Definitely worth checking out. Short but sweet!
