Shalini Ushadevi

Shalini is a leading Indian writer and director who won the Best Screenplay Award at the 68th National Film Awards in 2022 for her work on Soorarai Pottru, a Tamil feature directed by Sudha Kongara. An alumna of Prague Film School, she made her feature writing and direction debut with Akam - a Malayalam psychological thriller. It premiered at the 8th Dubai International Film Festival and was screened at several prestigious international film festivals including Shanghai International Film Festival, SAIFF, Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival, IFKK, and Osian's Cinefan among others. Shalini is presently working on the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru by 2D Entertainment and Abundantia Entertainment. She has also written a true-crime docu-series for Netflix which is currently in post-production. Shalini is also developing her next feature film as writer-director for a leading Indian production house.
