Adam VillaSeñor is an American filmmaker. His thought-provoking narratives often explore the human condition, existentialism, psychology, alternate realities, abstract emotion, identity, society, and metaphysical concepts through abstract and surreal lenses. VillaSeñor was the director, screenwriter, and producer of the critically acclaimed film, In Full Bloom. In 2019, the film was screened at the Oldenburg International Film Festival in Germany, where it was awarded the festival's two top prizes, the German Independence Award for Best Film and the German Independence Award for Best Debut Feature. The film follows the story of an American boxer in post-WWII Japan, and the entanglements his career encounters with the Yakuza. He has stated that he created a film from a psychological and spiritual perspective with utilizing the camera's psychology. Stephen Dalton of The Hollywood Reporter called the film "Malick meets Scorsese..."
In 2022, Variety reported that VillaSeñor's next directorial film, Yesteryear which he co-wrote and co-produced with collaborator Q'orianka Kilcher, follows the mental deconstruction of a young actress named Alma Deswood as she struggles for her existence during the Covid-19 quarantine and the Black Lives Matter movement.
