Rita was born in Rome, Italy. After graduating cum laude at University
'La Sapienza', Rome (Department of Modern and Contemporary Literature)
she achieved degree cum laude at 'Free University of Journalism',
Latina. She also earned Master's degree with honors and a scholarship
of merit from University 'Sapienza', Rome (Life Science
Communication). She worked for various magazines (among others: La
Repubblica, Galileo, Mente & Cervello). She works as a journalist at
the Press Office of National Research Council of Rome (CNR), where she
is chief editor in charge of 'Almanacco della Scienza', the online
magazine of CNR. She organizes and presents 'Scienziati e Studenti',
the audiovisual event conceived by herself that connects students and
researchers. In 2009, she wrote with her husband Angelo Caruso,
filmmaker and director, the treatment and the ultimate screenplay for
their first feature film. In 2011 she wrote with Angelo the short film
'How does it end?' filmed and directed in September by Angelo.
In 2013, again with Angelo, wrote 'Il sorriso di Candida' (Candida's smile), a short film that deals with Alzheimer's disease: a story inspired by her mother's life.
