Rhys was born in Hammersmith Hospital, London, England, to Janet Taylor & Robert Taylor. Rhys always had a passion for art & storytelling, as a child he was creative, always drawing & making scenarios with Lego & Plasticine. He was awarded the 'A level art achievement prize' two years running at Abbotsfield & Swakley's 6th form & studied art & design at Central Saint Martins, the first student from the Hillingdon area to receive a scholarship to such an establishment. He then took a film making degree at the University of West London followed by a Masters at Kingston University from 2007-2010.
During this time, Rhys worked part time jobs & planned projects outside of the classroom. He joined forces with a friend to help on his passion fashion project, FUTV. Producing, directing, shooting & editing the featurettes helped to hone his skills in a real world environment. From this, Rhys experienced shooting top events such as Clothes Show Live & London Fashion Week. After this he was able to work an internship at Motion Picture House where he edited films for Saatchi & Saatchi, a spy pilot starring Gemma Atkinson & shot a making of on the short film 'Man & Boy' starring Eddie Marsan.
After producing & shooting 'Dying' with talented director Richard Wright, Rhys got to do some exciting jobs such as log & capture footage for a Channel 4 documentary & shoot for a Debenhams fashion event. He then wanted to produce & shoot his own films. 'The External Dilemma' was his 1st independent film, starring talented actor Thomas Brandon. Rhys then produced & made props for the harrowing short 'Forbidden Thoughts', continuing an interest in production design & the mechanics of film organization. Rhys edited 'Crazy for You' for the Raindance 48 hour film festival Film & 'Dicing' was officially selected by the London Independent Film Festival. He was then hired to shoot 'Allegorical Beasts', a series of experimental film poems made up into a ½ an hour featurette. Around this time he was hired by Fulham FC & continued there for 5 years.
In 2014, Rhys produced & directed 'The Watcher', which won an award of recognition & was selected by three other film festivals. In the same year he produced 'Fair Play' which featured in the top 10 of the BFI Short Film Festival. Rhys then worked for Cherry Duck on a BHS ad utilizing stop motion techniques to create a nationwide viral advert. He also got to shoot the Fifa 17 promo while working at West Ham United FC featuring premier league footballers & celebrities. Rhys then had 2 career highlights, shooting for Cheeky Sport for a pre European Cup promo & shooting for ITN capturing red carpet events, notably Annette Benning's views which were shown on ITV's main news. Rhys directed & edited 'Nerdians: Back to the past'. which was released in 2018, won an award for best supporting actor for Connor Jenkin's outstanding performance as Barty. After working at ITV, archiving content for high profile clients, Rhys works for Local TV as an Editor while working on more self made projects since 2020.
