Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin is an adorable anime about a goddess that is forced to live on an island filled with demons in order to fulfill her true destiny as a divine being. It's based off a video game by the same name. The show is well made with pleasing color, settings and characters that make it a joy to watch. The characters themselves are distinct and likable, especially the main character Sakuna and her talking spirit companion Tama. It's a fun concept with satisfying emotional beats and fun little hijinks which brings levity to the somewhat bleak background of a demon infested island. The biggest problem with this show is that it can be way too slow in some parts. Leaving you wishing it would move past certain moments and get on with the story. I do also wish there were more and/or longer action sequences. So far though, I'm half way through and it's an enjoyable watch. If you like cute animes that don't require much deep thought or emotional weight, this is a nice option.
