All Americans are allowed to fight for our liberty, but some are not allowed to live it

We all know men and women who had to hide in shadows and live in fear for their sexuality. Their lives were censored by the norms of society. I couldn't imagine having to hide from them and myself, an entire life lived as a lie to satisfy a false premise. As this program shows, they are now in the autumn of life. Such shame on our humanity. Here's to the hope the next generations have compassion for all our differences so that lives can be lived to the fullest.

Like African Americans of WWII who fought for the rights and freedoms of us all, the gay community who have fought in all America's wars lived pariahs once their sacrifices were made.
