great lead performance, promising start

Similar in many ways to Marvelous and the Black Hole (2021) in that both are indy coming-of-age dramas featuring a breakout rubber-faced star who outshines the rest of the cast. INBETWEEN GIRL has the weaker script of the two, however. After a strong and promising start, the movie takes a sharp turn and becomes more of an Afterschool Special.
