Mere Jeevan Saathi

Okay - a very typical Hindi melodrama, very badly written, with some atrociously written dialogues and cliched elements. The film relies only completely on the star power of its leads. Akshay Kumar is of course just the presence, he's got no role to write home about neither does he look like someone who takes it too seriously to begin with. Ameesha Patel is just there. Obviously, Karisma Kapoor is very charismatic and good-looking, and she is too immersed in her obsessive strike. Sadly, the director allows her to really go wild at the role and sometimes she just takes it too far and completely overacts. This is not to say she isn't any good because it is her appearance that rises above the mediocrity of the show and gives it some value and interest. The film has melodious songs, among which "Tum Bin Na Hum Jeesakenge" is an absolute gem. One can expect no less from Nadeem-Sharavan. Sadly, one can't expect much from Suneel Darshan either, and it shows here.
