Reseña destacada
I love classic Armenian cinema, especially the works of Frunze Mkrtchyan, who stole the show as usual. But this film takes the cake for some of the most emotional sequences I have seen on film.
The film takes place during the tail end of WWII as the residents of Gyumri Armenia struggle through daily life as they wait for their sons and husbands to return. The film follows a couple of different storylines but I really dont want to spoil anything. The cinematography, music, and individual acting all blend perfectly to give us a real look into the struggle and optimism during this time.
My Armenian is far from perfect but I understood everything the film wanted to say. One of the few films to actually make me cry, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
If you can find a translation do not pass this film up. There is a lot to learn from here. Not only about film making but human nature, and how we chose to cope with life.
