Reseña destacada
A finely crafted film with romance , action , adventures , humor and disconcerting events . José (Gabino Diego) , an employee of a Japanese multinational, is forced to travel to the Caribbean to set up a Pata Negra (black-legged) pig farm. There he will find himself immersed in a double entanglement where he will learn about daily violence and the dangerous rules of the game in which drug traffickers , guerrillas , militars , gunrunners , contract killers and wildlife roam freely . There, the "new resources" that wait for him are the army , the guerrilla , hired murderers and the traffickers of drugs. And all the "new resources" try to kill him. Just love to a beautiful native (Yamilé Blanco) will save him. And almost murder as well...
A diverting comedy by the Spanish director Luis Oliveros who once again uses irony to reflect on the social situation in this Caribbean country and in which both sides end up battling resulting in hilarious results. The confrontation between the military troops and the forces of the guerrilla takes an almost utopian turn here by proposing to laugh more than the war horror . Luis Oliveros returns to Cuba where he already worked as an assistant director in ¨Cuarteto De La Habana¨by Fernando Colomo, to make his behind-the-camera debut with this entangled romantic comedy including an enjoyable love story with stunning starring and adequately built for Gabino Diego. As Gabino Diego gives a very sympathetic acting as a nervous clerk of a company of producing hams who's sent man to latin-america to look for new resources. The actor had to face authentic crocodiles without doubles , as well as be seduced by the singular beauty of the Cuban actress Yamilé Blanco , a pity who this Pata negra (2001) would be her only film for the gorgeous though lousy actress . While Santiago Ramos plays competently as a weapon trafficker, Manuel Manquiña who goes from media saint in ¨Año Mariano¨ or ¨Marian Year¨ to Spanish priest in the country and actor/singer Javier Gurruchaga as the local thug and contract killer complete the cast of this fun Spain Cuban production.
The motion picture was regular but professionally directed by Luis Oliveros with its ups and downs . Luis had budget enough thanks to various producers as Adolfo Cora, José María Reyzabal, Félix Rodríguez, Pedro Pablo Varela , Camilo Vives that financed lavishly this enjoyable movie . Oliveiras is a good craftsman with an interesting career , his film debut was Pata Negra , though he has made a lot of TV episodes of popular series , such as : La Valla , Estoy Vivo , Alatriste , Manolita Gafotas , La Huella Del Crimen , El Angel De Budapest and his big hit : El Jugador de Ajedrez . Rating : 6/10 , passable and acceptable . The motion picture will appeal to gabino Diego fans.
