Plot: Jean Cartier has just won the Goncourt prize and his editor urges him to write another book ;but he suffers from the writer's cramp and he leaves for the mountain to find inspiration. He meets a mysterious woman ,a shady banker's wife and fall in love with her. She promises she will meet him again on Xmas night.
With a stellar cast featuring Charles Vanel, Claude Dauphin, Madeleine Robinson and Pierre Brasseur ,how can you be wrong ? Unfortunately ,Françoise Giroud's screenplay is disjointed and far-fetched ;except for the scene between the editor and the writer, which are rather funny ,the rest of Sauvajon 's lines fall flat .Berthomieu's mediocre directing does not help ; watch it for the actors who deserve so much better!
