Young Laurie leaves her abusive marriage to older architect Guido and retreats to a lonely beach house, where she falls for a Eddie, a teenage fisherman. With Eddie's reluctant help, Laurie plots revenge in this intermittently spooky but unexciting thriller.
At least the story lives up to its title. For example, in the opening scenes the voyeuristic Guido meets Laurie at a whorehouse where he humiliates her terribly as secret cameras record the event. Even the innocent romance between Laurie and Eddie turns down a dark alley, especially when she convinces him to impersonate a woman as part of her vendetta.
Writer-director Gamba tosses in enough red herrings and plot reversals to keep us guessing, and it's refreshing to see a female character calmly take the upper hand while the men are either malleable wimps or offensive predators.
