- CuriosidadesMuch of the filming was carried out in the abandoned village of Tyneham in Dorset. The residents were forced to move away in 1943 "as a temporary measure" because the War Office (now the M.O.D.) commandeered the village to use it as firing ranges for training troops. After the war, the Army placed a compulsory purchase order on the land and it has remained in use for military training ever since. However, the remains of the buildings in the village are sometimes open to the public, despite being in the middle of a firing range. The village's very rare 1929 K1 Mark 236 telephone kiosk, which had been restored by volunteers a few years earlier, was accidentally flattened during filming of this movie, and the movie company had to obtain a replacement.
- PifiasThe action is set in the 1830s, but the Lanternist's magic lantern dates from the 1860s.
