Right, well I wasn't really sure what I was getting into here when I sat down to watch the 2019 movie "Motel Acacia", except for it being a horror movie. And being an avid fan of the horror genre, of course I sat down to watch this movie, as I hadn't already seen it.
Turns out that I might have skipped on it, because this movie was not good. In fact, it was so lacking in entertainment value that I really don't fully understand the purpose of the storyline. It was just a mess of a storyline, especially because nothing was properly explained or revealed.
Especially the setting of the movie made absolutely no sense to me. Where in the world was this supposed to be taking place? I just couldn't grasp that, and it just added to the confusion of an already befuddled storyline.
The acting in the movie, however, was adequate at least. But that hardly mattered, because the movie was so weighed down by a dubious and questionable storyline and script.
Visually then "Motel Acacia" was actually quite good. The effects were rather nice for a movie such as this. And I will say that the creature designs were definitely nice. But again, the special effects and CGI team could only muster so little to make amends for the movie's massive shortcomings.
All in all, "Motel Acacia" is not worth the time or effort, much less the money. I am rating it a generous three out of ten stars - mostly because of the visuals and acting. I managed to sit through the entire movie, but this is not a movie that I will ever be returning to for a second viewing.
