On Tuesday, 30 March 2021, Big Talk Productions made the disappointing announcement that the planned second series of the legal comedy has had to be canceled because cast availability was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Series two was originally intended to be filmed and broadcast in 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic. Among the cast members unavailable because they were working on other film, television, and writing projects is Katherine Parkinson who is scheduled to film a sitcom in Australia in 2021.

I had entirely given up on new television in 2008, giving up on new film in 2012. I recently came back to new film, finding most as awful as they ever were but with the occasional okay one. I had peeked at new TV shows in recent times and seen nothing worth even mentioning. However, with Defending the Guilty there seems to finally be a show that speaks powerfully about this terrible society we have made, with a serious wit, and finely judged aesthetics.
