TV Miniseries (2015) in 2 episodes, dealing with a psychological portrayal in relation to a troublesome bourgeois family from Barcelona. The miniseries begins with the request to the painter's granddaughter to give her approval to her works , and suddenly hidden behind a wall showing up a corpse inside it . As Violeta Lax (Bea Segura), the granddaughter of Amadeo Lax (Alex García) , a famous painter from the early 20th century, travels to Barcelona to supervise the remodeling of an old mansion that will become a museum dedicated to her grandfather . But the appearance of a mummified body in a secret room will lead Violeta to discover the dark past of her family . Hidden enigmas that will help you learn more about Teresa Brusés (Adriana Ugarte) , her grandmother , and, a bove all, to find out the most hidden and unknown face of her venerated grandfather . A pact of silence was imposed in the Lax family a long time ago : Amadeo demanded that no member of his family ever remember the name or fate of the wife who left him just at the time the Civil War broke out . As the investigation in the strange death is set aside to a romantic drama about the painter , his work and various lovers (Laia Costa as a cabaret girl who falls for Amadeo) .
Intense melodrama about the egoistic bourgeoisie , based on the homonymous novel written by Core Santos with all the lousy clichés of a period television series shot in Spain . It has some small twists and turns during the investigation of the surprising crime , although everything is very flat . Stars Adriana Ugarte (La Señora) and Alex Garcia (Kamikaze) but with tremendous casting failures , being impossible to believe that Ramón Madaula is the father of the protagonist Bea Segura if they barely seem to take 10 years . Interpretations are uniformly average with inexpressive actors, and overacting , at times . A romantic period drama told in two stages , the first years of the last century , to reflect the work of a painter of the Catalan gentry as well as his family and lovers , and, the present day concerning an ambitious work to make a house museum by the City Council in the house family donated by himsellf to the municipality. Decent staging recreating the Modernism epoch and the Catalan burgeoise , but is gradually declining due to the shooting being mostly made in interiors scenarios , and it feels somewhat claustrophobic . But disappointment and embarrassing scenes are developed little by little , as neither the script, nor the depiction of the characters, nor the interpretations seemed minimally credible . Of course , there are exceptions, as Francesc Orella is a great interpreter , as usual , and here it doesn't disappoint either as the ambitious pater familias .
Perhaps they should have made this one in the ordinary style of classic Spanish series such as : "La Saga de Los Rius", ¨Plaza del Diamante¨ , ¨Los Gozos y las Sombras¨, ¨Los Pazos de Ulloa¨ or "Fortunata y Jacinta" , however producers and director following ¨Amar es para siempre¨ wake more than previous vintage series . They should have shot something fairly acceptable and not this so-so television production . This period piece series was regularly made by Luis Maria Guell (Verdaguer, Nudos , La Señora , Studio 1 , Novela, Arnau , Amar es para siempre TV series) , providing a clumsy direction and adding a confusing edition . The result is something like corny and retro that would have deserved a better and more spectacular version .
