Settling in Pittsburgh in 2005, Franklin enrolled at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, a pivotal move that paved the way for his future in the realm of creativity. In 2008, he graduated with a Bachelor's in Entertainment Design, marking the culmination of his academic pursuits.

He stands as a proud member of the Local IATSE 489 union, contributing his skills as a grip to feature films and TV shows that find their way to Pittsburgh.
