Daniel Alvarenga was born in Berlin, but moved to Bavaria at the age of three. He is married and has three children. Alvarenga is a photographer by profession and a self-taught filmmaker. He is the owner of the production company Alvarenga Productions.
From the age of 20, Daniel Alvarenga made his first short films together with friends and finally a feature-length "agricultural western". In 2019, he made his first feature film "Wer Frieden sucht". Despite the low budget, this film received film awards and nominations and took part in several festivals. The film also screened for two weeks in several art house cinemas across Germany before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic led to the temporary closure of cinemas in Germany.
In May 2021, Alvarenga announced the production of his new film called "Hundswut". Filming took place in September and October 2022. The cast includes Christian Tramitz, Christine Neubauer, Markus Brandl and Max Schmidt.
