In addition to primary Media & Theatre studies at Ouachita, he traveled abroad for Film Theory studies spending a semester at Reading University in Reading, England. While at Reading he studied under the guide of cinema scholar Dr. Christopher G. Wagstaff, who effectively "wrote the textbook" on the aesthetic approach of Italian Neorealism film. Upon his passing in 2018, Dr. Wagstaff donated his vast collection of Italian cinema and literature to University of Notre Dame, where it now resides.
