His brother, John MacDonnell, was the BAFTA nominated Film Editor who
sadly died in 2008. His niece Joanna MacDonnell was a First Assistant Director but is now Director of Education for the College of Arts and Humanities at Brighton University.
Brother, Tony is a Jazz percussionist and brother Stewart runs a dance
school with his wife Joanne Mills.
