Creativity obviously demands certain liberty. But liberty can never be limitless. This is relevant in the context of new Bengali Web Series Nikosh Chhaya released on 31s October 2024 in Hoichoi. The Web Series narrates a story related to the belief of crores of people which demands a more sensible approach. Unfortunately, this sensitivity seems missing in some form or other here. .Rather, the Web Series deals with the concept of worshipping Divine Mother with a casual approach. This can never be accepted. From the cinematic perspective, the Web Series looks somewhat dull. It is claimed to be a Horror Crime Thriller. But in reality it is not so. No doubt, it is a fiction where realism is bound to be compromised. But any effort of wrong presentation of the Divine Mother can never be allowed in the name of creative freedom.
Similarly, the Web Series is stereotypical and the overdose of suspense makes it dull. Such deliberate ploy can never make a creative work worth enough to endorse. Shakti or Tantra Sadhana is not a cakewalk.
However, the Series has certain good points. Prambrata looks promising as a director. The casting is not bad as well. Chiranjit Chakraborty proves his talent yet again. Arindam displays maturity as an actor. But Kanchan Mallick is not a good choice for the role. Similarly, the Web Series has too many irrelevant characters. Anyway, the Web Series deserves less than avenge rating. One may watch.
