"When the world met Miss Probinsyana" may be the title, but it's more than that. It's more than the image we perceive when we read the title, it's more than the expectations we let our minds paint whenever we come across such word - probinsyana.
The movie delves deep into the current issues we face today, and it invites us on how to properly manage and deal with them as we evolve to become more sensitive, understanding, and knowledgeable human beings who are enticed to be better as we grow and go. The movie started with a probinsyana wanting to apply for a job and is being discriminated as she does so. This is just the tip of the iceberg - more life stories are what's hidden behind this introduction. The movie projects love at its best, may it be to your partner, your family, your children, your co-workers, and even your job. What I love most about it is how it realistically implies what love looks like in the possible situations we may face as we become adults who strive to create in impact in the world while having income. The movie teaches us that love is choosing something or even someone, and not giving up on them/it. It talks about patience, hardwork, and strength when it comes to challenges as we reach success - these scenarios aren't normally seen by anyone in real life, yet the movie was raw and real enough to show what lies behind success. It shows the most unexpected and imperfect situations that one could face when making decisions, and the story taught us how to deal with these situations with the help of family, support system, and love, of course.
Beyond that, the movie portrayed the importance of women in our society as well. Despite being degraded in society, women are also capable of what men can do, and when men and women work together, it is possible to create a future that anyone would ever dream of having. The movie shows that opportunities come and go, and we may never get the same chance back, so this tells us that taking that leap of faith, whether it may be in the context of love, life, work, can sometimes lead us the best things in life. But we all know it's not always colorful. We all experience hardships and obstacles that may hinder us from going on in life. I love how this movie showed and explained how depression is not merely an emotion or a mental illness. It will never be easy to handle such thing, and it takes a systematic process to endure this. The movie taught me that it is never too late to heal our childhood traumas, and that it is essential to forgive ourselves. We have to do this in order to move forward and chase our dreams in life. It showed me that it's okay to put ourself first, and that it takes much strength in deciding to do so. Additionally, I admire how this movie breaks the stigma in crab mentality. It showed that all we have is each other, therefore we must pull each other up and help one another. It showed that life is indeed not a race, and competition only exists when it comes to our selves, not others. To expound, the only one that challenges us the most is ourselves. We are the ones who can challenge ourselves and reach beyond our limits. Sisterhood and friendship was very well portrayed in this movie, and I believe it should be highlighted in today's society. After all, strength doesn't only come in numbers, but it also comes with drive, vision, and hunger when it comes to success.
This movie is what you need when you need a boost in life, or a reminder that in the end, it will all be okay. I am honestly surprised how one movie can actually portray different kinds of issues in the world today, and how it also teaches us on how to deal with these.
Like I said, this movie is more than just its title. It tackles aspects that we may face in life and how to overcome them. I love this movie so much, it has awoken my system to be more aware of how I want to win in life, and how I want others to win as well. Again, the world may have met Miss Probinsyana, but now, it's time for the world, especially the Filipinos, to meet this movie. You'll thank me later. Must watch.
