After Ryan Reynolds started receiving complaints from young fans of the comic book character who weren't old enough to watch the R rated Deadpool 2 (2018) he came up with the idea of producing a family friendly PG-13 rated version by filming new scenes to bookend the movie into a spoof fairytale and having the most severe violence and bad language removed. This new version is lightly based on the film The Princess Bride (1987). The end result was met with mixed reviews and after a very brief theatrical release the film was released onto dvd in time for Christmas 2018. This version was not released in many countries outside of the US.

An alternate shot is used during the convoy chase scene to remove a scene of Deadpool's hand being shot through (and his subsequently using the hole in his hand to manipulate a gun barrel to shoot the person who'd shot him). However, subsequent shots were left unaltered, so Deadpool's hand and glove are seen with a hole in them.

Wade Wilson: Hey, zip it. We already pay somebody to say stuff like that to me, okay? And you're wrong, because she would kiss me. She loves my insides. Trust me.
[faces the camera]
Wade Wilson: We all saw the first movie.
Fred Savage: I didn't. I kinda prefer Marvel movies.
Wade Wilson: We ARE Marvel.
Fred Savage: Yeah, but you're, you know, Marvel licensed by Fox. It's like if The Beatles were produced by Nickelback. It's music, but it sucks.
Wade Wilson: [quietly to himself, dabbing his fingers to his nose] Just checking the nose for blood there...
[loudly snapping]
Wade Wilson: I love Nickelback! You get your dirty mitts off Chad Kroeger. And the joke's on you, because Fox is being bought by Disney!
Fred Savage: I think that puts the joke on you.
Wade Wilson: Ears closed. Mouth open. You were nicer as a kid.

Kidnapping in PG-13

The whole idea was to re-edit the second Deadpool film in order to make it more family friendly and allow more people to see the film in theaters, so instead of simply just editing out profanities and major drug use, they added kidnapping. Fred Savage's kidnapping! And apparently Brad Pitt was also kidnapped too, but that can't be confirmed. The premise of Deadpool telling his story to Savage in the bedroom set of Princess Bride is very comical, especially when Deadpool breaks the fourth wall.

At one time, IMDb didn't consider this title as it's own standalone film and only an alternative to Deadpool 2. I'm glad to see they finally added the film as it's own entity, because it is, even Rotten Tomatoes recognized it. It's not just a directors cut or an extended version of the film after all, it's akin to Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut.
