Written and directed by Wicked Pictures' new big deal Seth Gamble, "Privilege" is the first half of his double feature, currently showing in eight episodes on Wicked's website. I'm reviewing the 2-hour feature, its story yet to be wrapped up in Part Two.
The action unfolds in a way reminiscent of the great hit TV series "Succession", but is quite different. What the two have in common is the unusual format of having all the characters unlikable. Not the actors (Brian Cox is perfect as the pater familias of "Succession"), but the double-dealing, nasty roles.
This time we have veteran porn actor Evan Stone as head of a wealthy family, busy doing all sorts of unspecified illegal things, but getting into trouble, not unlike the Trumpster. Seth writes in a vast number of kids into the family, including stepkids, perhaps to capitalize on the fashionable faux incest craze currently dominating porn.
Stone has designated his successor (Nathan Bronson) to take over the company, but everyone else is scheming to get dad's money. Even Julia Ann (whose career starring with Evan goes back 20 years to their Wicked hit "Hercules") cast as Evan's gold-digger wife is a rotter.
Seth has lengthy sex scenes bring the treacherous doings of his cast to a halt like clockwork (WIcked being ruled by the current half-hour porn vignette format), but does provide enough acting/story interludes to keep one interested. But unlike its TV predecessor mocking the Murdochs, this group of sexy miscreants is busy plotting schemes without specifics: Gamble never tells us what all the fuss is about other than grabbing some money.
A fine cast of lovely young actresses provide the hot action, while actresses Lexi Luna and Vanessa Sky don't appear in Part One, saving themselves for Part Two (as does absent Tyler Cruise, as well as Bronson who only appears in NonSex scenes for starters).
