Nacho Nieto (Berto Romero) , a journalist specialized in the paranormal, is going through his worst professional and personal moment. He was a notorious radio star, but nowadays he's in crisis. After a failed suicide attempt, he returns accompanied by the ghost of his mentor, Dr. Estrada (Andreu Buenafuente) , a mythical communicator of mystery, who died 20 years ago. Together they will have to unravel the mystery of a poltergeist that harasses a mother (Maria Botto) and her son in a house in the center of Barcelona. Perhaps the most important paranormal case in recent years and that could return Nacho to the podium of mystery journalism. But Nacho must also overcome the weight of a dark secret from his past, as well as his own internal ghosts. In the second episode Nacho and Dr. Estrada begin the investigation in Eva's apartment. Juana (Eva Ugarte) , Nacho's friend and former producer, investigates the history of the apartment's former tenant, an old woman with diogenes syndrom, and discovers that she could be a key track to the case.
Berto looks into the horror genre with points of black comedy in this series, original from Movistar in collaboration with El Terrat (The Mediapro studio). The Catalan's particular humor fits perfectly with a ghost story that, mixing homage and comedy, tells us about that enormous group of mystery lovers that swarms around this country. He portrays many of his followers, but above all his gurus, his greatest representatives, those paranormal journalists who stole our hours of sleep on the radio and who now triumph on television.
This sereis is for the many followers of people like Jiménez del Oso, Enrique de Vicente, J. J. Benítez, Javier Sierra or Iker Jiménez. And even more the followers and readers of those Beyond, Año Zero (Year Zero) or Muy Interesante (Very interesting).
The other side pays tribute to them from a comic perspective and, on the other hand, he does not forget the lovers of the genre, to whom he also offers a series of wonderful horror and paranormal scenes. El otro lado (2023-2023) is a series that seems to be the daughter of the crossover of two films: Muertos de laughter (1999) and Holy Spirit (2021). It displays a great main cast, the always sympathetic Berto Romero and Andreu Buenafuente who who previously formed a couple in the also successful ¨El Pregón¨. And a nice support cast with plenty of familaiar faces , such as the director Nacho Vigalondo, Maria Botto, Ramón Barea, Daniel Chamorro y Eva Ugarte.
