If you are looking for a Christmas rom/com like most of those you would find on Hallmark or Lifetime, then you have come to the wrong place. If you go into it wanting that, you won't like it and will give 1 or 2 stars.
This movie is written, directed, and acted exactly like what you would find on one of the children's networks. Everything is juvenile, and I am pretty sure it is meant to be. The romance is what you might expect from that same kind of show, but mostly this is a story about kids facing a crisis and turning to Santa to help. There is even some Santa magic sprinkled in, complete with the sparkles that appear every time there is a Santa miracle.
Leslie and David have a hiccup early when she sees him being hit on by a not so respectable girl in a bar. For a good bit after that she is delivering sarcastic put downs. In the midst of this they stop at something like a biker bar for relief and refreshment. When they are verbally accosted by a biker, Leslie puts him down very nicely. All like you would expect in a kids movie, complete with the pictures of cars moving along a pseudo map.
There is also a one-dimensional villain who caused the crisis in the first place. That too is resolved in a way that completely fits a kid's perspective.
I had no kids to watch this with and was less than thrilled with it, but my rating is mostly based on what it is. It is a kids movie.
