Ethelreda Leopold wants to become a movie star, but she and room mate Mary Treen are out of luck. In pops new-made talent agent Danny Webb, who comes up with a scam to get her a role.
Webb isn't much remembered for his movies; he was a voice talent, and he does a few imitations here. He also did some uncredited work for Warner Brothers cartoons.
As for Miss Leopold (her real name!), she had a long career in movies and television, almost 150 appearances from 1934 through 1989. This is one of the few in which she gets a screen credit.
All of the characters are given ridiculous names. Miss Leoold rejoices in "Hazel Hackenscmitt". While there are a few gags directed at the studios, it's mostly about Webb.
