The film's original director was Deepak Shivdasani. But due to differences with producer Mukesh Duggal, he was asked to leave the film after 80% of it was complete. Duggal then completed the film and credited himself as director.

Typical 90s

I am a little surprised by all of the rave reviews. Gopi kishen falls in line with the majority of mediocre 90s movies and checks off a lot boxes - flowerpot heroine, good songs, a bit of action, some comedy and a dash of romance. I would say that the most memorable thing about this one are the songs. The soundtrack has enjoyed a long shelf-life. Karisma isnt given much to do aside from look pretty and dance. We barely know her name in this movie. Shilpa, on the other hand has the stronger character but only one or two songs. Sunil goven a great opportunity to show his acting skills. Gets boring in the last hour when they are trying to wrap up.
