Dumb And Dumber

Ciccio Ingrassia is the long, Franco Franchi is the short, and the Siamese cat is the one their rich and batty employer thinks is the reincarnation of her late husband. She dies and leaves them a million lire each every month,provided they take care of the cat. Which has, of course,wandered off.

Franchi and Ingrassia were two popular Italian comedians who came out of the Neapolitan commedia del'arte school, full of muggings and stupidity,with some good physical comedy thrown in. They appeared together in more than 130 movies.

Their search for the cat comes down to two set pieces, one which involves Ingrassia filling in at a dinner party whose hostess thinks it bad luck to have thirteen at table. That part is amusing. Far more rote is the other subplot, in which the cops are looking for an assassin known as The Cat, and think these two idiots know who he is.
