This was good, but it turns out it's not the Falcon of George Sanders and Tom Conway. There were actually two characters named Falcon by two different authors. The character in this particular series is named Michael Waring.
Here, the Falcon (John Calvert) is asked to find Larry Andrews (Mauritz Hugo), which he does. Unfortunately, he gives the client the man's location, and the man is murdered. The killers want the $100,000 Anders is holding. They can't find it, so then they want the Falcon to search for it. And there's another murder - one of a private eye who was asked to follow him by a female friend of Andrews.
I have read other reviews - this was Calvert's last time as the Falcon, and supposedly it's his best. I'll have to see the other ones. I happen to have liked the humor and the relaxed atmosphere that Tom Conway and George Sanders brought to the role.
Calvert plays the Falcon seriously - nothing flip about him. He was a fascinating man - he was a well-known magician, and the world's oldest performing magician. On stage from the age of eight, he fulfilled a lifelong ambition when he appeared at the London Palladium on his 100th birthday.
Tall and handsome, Calvert was an old-fashioned leading man, tall, good-looking, very polished with a mustache and a strong speaking voice. Also I don't understand why the Falcon's name went from Lawrence to Waring to Watling - apparently Watling is dubbed over Waring in the films, for some reason.
This is actually a good mystery with some neat twists.
