About 20 minutes into the movie Lora rides a tram in the evening, sitting in her thoughts right behind a young couple. When the couple rushes away to get off the tram at a stop, the girl forgets her coat. They are seen getting off the tram, stepping down to the street, after which the tram slowly starts going again towards the left. Next, Lora wakes up from her thoughts and discovers the coat. She picks it up and runs to the exit to try to give the coat to the girl. Strangely, the tram is now standing still, but the couple is too far gone already. Then the tram starts going (again), and Lora returns to her seat with the coat.

Gripping start and end, slight lull in the middle

"I Dimma Dold" aka "Hidden In The Fog" (1953) begins as a Hitchcockian thriller, develops into a "Laura" variation (it even name-drops the 1944 classic), and concludes as a traditional whodunit. Vic Suneson' script is clever, with a big twist in the middle, plus a smart final clue that points to the only possible murderer, Lars -Eric Kjellgren's direction is impeccably noirish, and the acting is good across the board, especially by Eva Henning and Georg Rydeberg. The film is more gripping is its first half and the prolonged finale; in the middle, it loses its momentum a little. **1/2 out of 4.
