I enjoyed this self-reflexive porn comedy that pokes mild fun at the Adult industry, a nice bit of filmmaking from a source I normally try to avoid: "porn-parody" (i.e., ripoff) perpetrators Will Ryder and Scott David. Perhaps they have turned over a new leaf, very late in their careers, aiming for originality rather than plagiarism.
It's a simple but effective screenplay by Ryder: Katie Moran is being divorced by her selfish and chauvinist husband Ryan Ryder (clearly no relation to the director). She discovers that among his prominent businesses is an adult film company, bearing the DVD's title, and she ends up running it via the divorce settlement.
So we have a quickie "porn industry for dummies" tour of how the business works, or at least how Will likes to present it to the public. Katie gets to realize her dream of humping a porn star (yeah, right), and various comical characters cavort and have sex.
It's photographed in a glossy style familiar from Ryder's innumerable XXX parody videos, and the cast is both enthusiastic and talented in both delivering dialog and having sex for pay. Pacing is good, with a NonSex version shown separately on the DVD and running 40 minutes. I would suspect that softcore coverage of the missing sex scenes could bring that up to feature lengh of roughly 80, useful for Pay-Cable showings.
Adam & Eve pretends this is a big deal by having it issued as a 2-DVD set, with the second disk featuring well over an hour of BTS footage and the usual dumb "travelogue" conversation between Will & Scott, in which they crack jokes and puff themselves up (e.g., holding up AVN trophies and boasting of lifetime achievement awards). In the stupid manner of a Brad Armstrong "prestige" DVD, we get a table read of the Will's script (with no table), in which it is noted that Holly Hendrix was originally cast in the role very well-played by Kat Dior instead, and that Alec Knight switched parts, being replaced nicely by a rather different type, Moe 'The Monster' Johnson, playing a funny hippie replete with bong for smoking right out of Cheech & Chong's playbook.
