"Mesa para Dois" ("Table for Two") is a terrifying and humorous short film about a cannibal (Danilo Ferraz) preparing his next meal which consists of tasting a human brain.
Yep, you've seen that before (I think) in Ridley Scott's "Hannibal" and I guess you could say this goes with the same routine with a guy à-la Hannibal Lecter who makes everything
look as calm and balanced as possible - with the inclusion of Handel as background music - but a little more frightening since he uses of tools to reach the brain and it's a
bloody mess that he loves.
The ultimate goal here is to show a man who is about to taste his favorite delicacy. And as the title doesn't betray us, there is a plot twist to it all but I'm not gonna tell.
It was slightly surprising, and that's exactly where the dark humor briefly appears since through the whole thing this is a horror tale to be presented - and a genial horror was
presented if we consider Brazilian films specially in the horror genre which lacks in having interesting films to show. The make-up effects were amazing, it's possibly the most
goriest film I've ever seen lately and it's all done with precision, horror and shock. There's so much quality attached to it to it makes you wonder why not making a feature film
out of this situation. It's THAT good! 9/10.
