Sovereign Syre showcases herself in "Lesbian Surrender": 4 lengthy vignettes all built around her. Dana Vespoli, who later spotlighted Syre in "Hollywood Babylon", handles the hand-held, verite style camera and the result is strictly for Sovereign fanatics.
Syre is a subtle, often dead-pan actress who is convincing when playing little miss innocent, which she carries off reasonably well here as the lesbian sub. In the opening scene, her dramatic one-sided phone conversation resembles the classic play "The Human Voice", then Eva Darlling barges in to return the cell phone belonging to SS's husband. She's found it with incriminating photos featuring her lesbian girlfriend, and is hopping mad at the guy, prepared to take out her wrath on his wife Syre.
She blackmails Syre into having sex with her, involving vibrator and dildo, and at the conclusion of the session she notes "I have your number, I know where you live", leaving SS in jeopardy, though our heroine obviously enjoyed the forced Sapphic attention.
Attractive French actress Nikita Bellucci plays a model that photographer SS shoots. They have sex, and afterward while SS is in the shower, Nikita steals her camera and money, and splits. Not sure what the import of this cautionary tale was supposed to be.
Syre and Vespoli then depart from format to stage an interview session for the next vignette. Syre portrays a heavily fictionalized version of herself as if it were real, and we have several brief scenes of her as sub to cute Aaliyah Love's dom, featuring escalating foot fetish, fingering, butt plug and other fetish action. Premise is to show how Syre drifted from wimpy soft-X fetish videos into hardcore projects but it doesn't ring true, except for her pointed statement: "People already thought what we were doing was porn". The Behind the Scenes featurette reveals, not surprisingly, that role-playing the dom is rare for little Aaliyah.
Finale is a disappointing 1-act play sketch, dominated (literally) by Elle Alexandra. She plays a girl who took six years to graduate from a Catholic College, and only then by dint of blackmailing her teacher, who she subsequently turned against and got into trouble.
Syre's rather obvious script (critical of the church establishment) has her playing a Christian counselor who gets tough with the girl, only to be seduced by her. The script's criticism of narrow-mindedness is fake, and even after sensual lovemaking Elle comes off as unsympathetic, a lesbian manipulator. The message gets lost.
All told, nearly 3 hours of Syre on display was way too much of a bad thing for me, and I suggest that like Woody Allen, she should lay out and remain behind the scenes in such a future auteur assignment.
