Talking to God made me laugh and made me cry. But what it did most was helped me laugh my way into a mental-emotional-spiritual paradigm shift that opened my heart.
Be careful - it may do that to you too.
With a brilliant script and top level sound design and production Maya Batash grants the world access to the deepest secrets of Kabbalah and Hasidut with a gentle touch.
She has discovered the secret to true happiness in the fantastical tales of Rebbe Nachman and like any great doctor written a prescription that includes a spoon full of sugar to help us ingest and digest these new concepts as she retells the stories in a reality that we know.
Her portrayal of characters so absurd and exaggerated ironically makes them disarmingly relatable and human. And that's a whole lot of fun.
With all the the overstimulation and desensitization, Talking to God is a welcomed still strong voice that takes us back to basics. It's first and foremost a comedy about humanity - but then again - what is a human other than a biological being with a Divine soul and the potential for the consciousness to access it.
For me, this is a must watch, Probably at least once a month.
