Eugene Burdick(1918-1965)

He was a decorated naval officer and a teacher at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

[about his book "Fail-Safe", regarding a breakdown in military communications that results in an American nuclear attack on the Soviet Union] I believe it to be inevitable under the circumstances. That is why we [co-author Harvey Wheeler] wrote this book. I don't know of a scientist who has a direct knowledge of "fail-safe" who isn't worried. This is something people ought to know.
