A self-described "geek" in high school, he moved from the East Coast to
California in the late 1980s. He helped pay his way through college in
San Francisco by performing at the comedy club The Punch Line, the
place that gave Robin Williams his start. Upon graduating, Jonathan and
his then-girlfriend packed up and moved to L.A.
