- WissenswertesHarri James is a former actress turned script supervisor turned writer-director. She has written and directed several award-winning shorts.
Harri shot her short film "Tough Guy Pizza" on her wedding day, casting her father as a wise-guy who re-hashes his life in this dark narrative comedy. "Tough Guy Pizza" was runner up in the narrative short category at the 1998 South by Southwest Film Festival.
While working on a film as a script supervisor, Harri seized an opportunity to shoot "Pink, Blue, Yellow," a comedy in which three pairs of men and women share their thoughts about having children. The film, which was shot during a lunch break, using crew members as actors, was acquired by Showtime in 2000. James expanded "Pink, Blue, Yellow" into a feature script which was selected as a finalist in the screenwriting competition of the 1999 WINFemme Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Harri's first short, "All About Mary" is a mock personal essay by a fictional filmmaker, Mary St. Scott, a co-dependent with a history of failing to complete any of her far-flung productions. The short was screened at the American Film Institute's 1993 Video Festival. Harri continued the adventures of Mary St. Scott in "400 Baht with Bad Sound," where, inspired by "El Mariachi," Mary attempts to make a film in Thailand for 400 Baht, the equivalent of 16 U.S. dollars.
Harri founded Jump the Line, a support group for union script supervisors who are writing, producing, and directing.
