- If champions are made, then one might consider the town of Kennard, Nebraska a first class champion factory. Proof is in the people who reside in this great plains community with a population of 371. Three of Kennard's finest--Howard Locker (The Legend), Deborah Ryck (The Prospect), and Peter Pahkinas (The Beginner)--strive to achieve greatness via a sport often dismissed as preposterous. Powerwalking. Heels to the Pavement gives you an intimate look at the lives of these asphalt-pounding competitors as they prepare their minds and bodies for what is considered the most anticipated annual sporting event in the region, the Kennard Days' 5K Powerwalking Championship. Mustaches will be grown, leotards will be donned, and pride will be swallowed, but only one true champion will prevail.
- With a brand new home and a steady income, Zach Brady's starting to convince his father that he may finally prove to be a son that's normal and competent enough to be mildly proud of. But when corporate tech giant, PH Discover, decides to outsource Zach's duties to Guadalupe, he's forced to face the wrath of an American epidemic--unemployment. With a few jobless schmucks by his side, Zach sets out on a mission all-too-familiar in a recessed economy: Make money and take no prisoners. From Asian abductions, to spiritual gangsters, to a heartfelt life lesson in how to physically exhibit confidence from the waist down, this hip-hop-driven film proves that there's a platinum side to unemployment.
- Barry Williams and his best friend/manager Jody Jorgensen are lovably-awkward man-children. One day, while playing a pop-star themed board game they made, using living caterpillars as game pieces, they hear an ad on the radio that the local Nebraska boy band, "402," is looking for a fourth member. Barry's stage fright, the ten dollar entry fee, and trauma of being decked by a flying apple last time he sang on stage, are all keeping him from entering. Jody passionately convinces Barry to go for it, but says he's going to need some serious training. Jody trains Barry the best and only way he knows how. The training is not even close to practical. From dodging apples while blindfolded, to a staring contest in a bathtub with mouths full of hot sauce, they truly believe these things are going to get Barry to the next level. On the night of the contest, as fate would have it, it's "Free Apple Night" at the bar. After a merciless taunting by his competition, Gene, Barry is called to stage. Jody delivers an impassioned pep-talk for the ages. Barry starts off nervous, but looks to Jody, and finds his inner-strength to belt the high notes, crush the dance moves, and show the world what he's got. Barry gets the offer on the spot. One problem, Jody can't be his manager. Barry has a choice to make. The Boy Band gig of his dreams, or the best friendship anyone has ever known. Screw those jerks, nothing separates Barry and Jody. This season, Barry's going solo.
