- On August 4, an explosion obliterated the port of Beirut, Lebanon. At least 181 people have been killed, over 6,000 people wounded, and 300,000 are now homeless. These numbers are likely to continue to rise. The devastation to the city and to the people cannot be understated. The eastern part of Beirut's port has been totally destroyed, and buildings across the city have been severely damaged. Hospitals have been heavily damaged, and they are overwhelmed with the number of people now needing medical help and essential items. The British Red Cross has established the BEIRUT EMERGENCY APPEAL, with all proceeds sent to The Lebanese Red Cross, responding to the crisis on the ground. On August 20, our London-based team joined forces with members of the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra in Beirut. We filmed a performance of 'All I Longed To See'.
