As a result, the two men circle the modern architecture of the building in increasingly fraught manner trying to find each other, with several near misses. Eventually, they do meet each other after a comfort break, but it turns out that Beckett's time is done and he needs to leave for another appointment: "Sorry, I have to go!" So the waiting is over.
