Thought to be "the worst woman in Hollywood" because of her vampire roles and lurid publicity, Inez Laranetta actually is more concerned with shielding her younger sister, Fay Bartholdi, from the life she knows--especially the devastating impulses of men. Stewart Cuyler, a wealthy and socially prominent New Yorker, is the only man Inez respects, but she refuses even his attentions. When Stewart searches for the man he believes to be his rival, he falls in love with Fay. Inez learns of their courtship, assumes Stewart's intentions to be dishonorable, and hastens to the scene intending to separate the couple. Stewart explains that he wishes to marry Fay but that Inez must give up her sister. For the sake of Fay's happiness, Inez sadly withdraws and finds some consolation in the love of her manager, Pat Summerfield.

Laconic cowboy Maverick Brander is actually a wealthy rancher, but money means little to him. The same can't be said for his social-climbing wife and their man-crazy daughter Bossy. His wife, with the help of some political bosses, helps Maverick get elected to Congress, where he manages to get in all sorts of trouble, including getting blackmailed by opponents of a bill he's trying to get passed.

A British Army officer finds his wife in another mans room, so he kills him. Although she is innocent of any wrongdoing, the wife claims to be guilty in order to save her husband from a death sentence.

Gervas Carew's wife, Elinor, has deserted him while he was fighting for France, for Lord Clyde Geraldine, a cad of the first order, but Elinor, in turn is cast off when Lord Geraldine turns his attention to an Irish lass, Marny. Marny has no idea of Geraldine's past nor his brutal nature. Carew goes to Algiers where he studies medicine and becomes a friend of the Aranian tribes, who call him the "Desert Healer.' Lord Geraldine comes to Algiers for his health, and is beating Marny when Carew is passing their house one night. Carew rescues her and carries her off to his desert tent. Lord Geraldine comes after him the next day looking for revenge, but Lord Geraldine makes his elephant mad, and the elephant gores him to death. Carew and Marny take up light tent-keeping together, and the circle is completed.

Playboy novelist Sebastian Maure falls for Ghirlaine Bellamy, a product of a wealthy--and puritanical--society family, a girl so prim and proper that she's known as "The Blonde Saint." One night at a dinner party, she informs Maure that she is engaged to young Vincent Pamfort and is leaving for England the next day to marry him. Maure tricks her into meeting him on board a boat going to Palermo, and before they get there he suddenly grabs her and jumps overboard. They wind up in a fishing village on a small island and before long find themselves caught up in a cholera epidemic and a local criminal gang.

Pierre, the maitre d' at the swanky Ritz Hotel in Paris, discovers that he has a son from his former marriage, which was broken up by his wealthy wife's upper-class relatives. His son, now a young man unaware that Pierre is his father, is in danger of becoming the victim of blackmailer Mae Morin. Pierre sets out to save him from the notorious Mae.

The film is a comedy that centers on a disgruntled 18th century Bostonian, played by Errol, who while wishing that he was a pirate, dons the clothes and play-acts the part. He is mistaken for the real pirate, Dixie Bull (played by Walter Law) whom Errol, of course, bumps into later in the film. More importantly, Errol "slays" the villain and puts his foot upon the pirate's head. This is more than enough and he heads back home to his unappreciated wife, played by Dorothy Gish.

The daughter of straitlaced parents, Bessie Bowden is attracted to the social life of the fast set and finds Austin Trull, lounge lizard and sometime artist, more interesting than hard-working John Hargraves. Mr. Bowden and John try to compete with Bessie's new friends and spend all the family savings on making the Bowden home appear wealthy and a part of the social whirl. Bessie and Geraldine Horton finally catch Trull at his double-dealing, and Bessie wisely returns to home and Hargraves.

The adventures of a beautiful gallant girl ,Flavia Desmond (Anna Q. Nilsson), who goes into the African veldt of the Rhodesan gold fields to save the soul of a man, Lundi Druro (James Kirkwood), who had saved hers. Disguised as a man, she fought against men charged with the lust of gold and the black curse of Africa- Ponjola, the strong drink of the strange and glamorous country.
