- In the summer of 1878, refugees from the Memphis epidemic came to Chattanooga to escape the ravages of yellow fever. Within two days, the first victims died. 12,000 townspeople fled to the mountains surrounding Chattanooga leaving behind those without means, the infirm and the elderly. A few brave citizens decided to stay behind to help the sick and dying. One of these was Fr. Patrick Ryan of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He converted one of the church buildings into a makeshift hospital and tirelessly made the rounds to the sick and dying until he himself succumbed to the disease.
- Beautiful Sarah (Neel Thompson), subject to fits of depression, overdoses on pills and drowns in her tub. Her grieving roommate, Jackie (Tepe), comforts Sarah's boyfriend, Josh (Muller)...a little too much. They share a secret, arousing suspicion and revealing a web of lies. But tonight, Sarah may still have the last word.
- Laura only wants to pick up her car from the new, local auto repair shop -- Carter's Auto & Body -- and go home. But bizarre mechanic Carter has other ideas. Unsuccessful at trying to put the make on Laura, he slips her a little gift: a complimentary key chain '... as a little reminder that Carter's Auto & Body is always there to grease your chassis - day or night.' Laura takes the gift just to shut him up -- not realizing the tiny car is a portal to another dimension. A portal which Carter plans to use... tonight.
