Yvonne is a police detective in a town on the French Riviera and the young widow of police chief Santi, a local hero. One day, she learns that her husband was in fact a crooked cop.
Antoine (Auteuil) saves Louis (Garcia) from hanging himself, though in his attempt to get Louis back on his feet, Antoine gets caught in a romantic triangle.
Antoine is too depressed to go on playing in his rock band. After wandering in the streets, he decides to seek an occupation. Unskilled as he is, he is lucky to be hired as the caretaker of an old Paris apartment building.
