- A poor widowed farmer, Dharma Singh, raises two children, a boy (Karan) and a girl (Geeta) on his own in a town called Rampur, and would like his son to grow up to be a police officer. Alas, that was not to be so, for heavy torrential rains strikes their region, separating the entire family, leaving Dharma wounded, and the two children ending up in a town called Sitapur. Geeta decides to work so that her brother can study. Her brother re-locates to Bombay city, and subsequently studies well, and becomes a Police Inspector. He is assigned his first major assignment to get rid of bandits near Sitapur, which he accepts, little knowing that the very people he is expected to get rid of are his very own sister, who is now a former jailbird, a notorious bandit who calls herself "Maut", and at odds with another bandit known as Daku Dharma Singh, who is none other than her father. Will Karan be able to fulfill his duties or will he end up joining his family in a life of crime.
- Dreaded gangster Babubhai is involved in all possible criminal activities. Of late his activities are being sabotaged by a fellow criminal named Shankar Dada. Babubhai entraps him with the help of beautiful Bindiya, and gets him on his side with a 50-50 partnership, to which Shankar agrees. Babubhai comes to know that Shankar has a look-alike brother named Ram, who is a police inspector, and has been assigned to this area to put a stop to all criminal activities. Babubhai asks Shankar to copy Ram's mannerisms, and replace him at the police station, which will make Babubhai's criminal syndicate virtually unstoppable, to which Shankar agrees. Ram is abducted and held by Babubhai, while Shankar replaces him at the police station, not realizing that these actions are going to change their lives forever.
- Inspector Verma is rudely shocked when he discovers that his son has turned out to be a dacoit. He takes up the challenge of reforming his son and making him a law-abiding citizen.
- Gangaram (I.S. Johar) lives in a small village in Punjab. The only quality he possesses is a good singing voice. He is in love with Jamuna and the whole village knows about their affair. But Jamuna's father is not happy with Gangaram, so he uses various methods to separate the two. However all his efforts fail and he takes Jamuna away to the city. Gangaram follows his beloved to the city and searches every street to find her. During his search, he accidentally meets Leela, a social worker whom he saves from some goons. He accepts Leela as his sister and stays with her. Leela is in love with Satish, whose father is very greedy and is against Satish and Leela's marriage. Satish's father fixes his marriage with Jamuna. Leela's social work has created some enemies for her, among them is a looter who is a friend of Satish's father. He abducts Leela but again Gangaram saves her. Satish's father forces Satsih to marry Jamuna but Gangaram plans a plot where he changes the bride Jamuna with Leela. Thus Satish marries Leela. Later Gangaram wins a prize for facilitaing the arrest of the goon and ultimately Jamuna's father gets the two married.
