- In the Oresteia, Agamemnon returns after years of absence. It does not occur to him that the life of his wife Clytemnestra has continued. What happens when we move the characters from Greek tragedies to the present? Are they still believable characters? And do the attributed genders of these characters still hold up? 'When hearts are sad' is a modern love tragedy based on Aeschylus' Oresteia. Simone's harmonious life is interrupted when her ex-wife Nora - an outgoing, manipulative actress - suddenly shows up at her door after 5 years of absence. Nora wants to pick up their old life as if nothing had happened. Simone, stunned by the unexpected situation, tries to find a way to show Nora the door. Their reunion, however, opens old wounds. It turns out that a lot has happened in their past and that has never been processed. The balanced Simone loses the balance between emotion and reason. As it happens in tragedies, their lives will never be the same after that.
