Ruby Baby is a short story with elements of dark comedy. The lead character Catherine is on a journey to look into her past and make sense of unsolved happenings. She travels back to the bleak, remote countryside where, as a young teenager, she lived for a short time with her mother. She intends to locate the farmhouse where her mother kept house for the young Adam and his drunken, violent father - a site of unexplained tragic events. Today, she is determined to delve into her past and resolve questions she has always had. But will the journey bring her any closer to achieving this?

In the present day workers unknowingly uncover an ancient relic that leaves the science community exhilarated until the site is closed down by a mysterious agency. In the old world we meet Lascaux a beautiful young mute struggling to survive in a world of savages of which there is none more black hearted than the vicious Terah. What starts as a journey of observations for Lascaux quickly becomes a race for survival as she finds herself as the prime target for Terah and his scavenging thugs. Can anyone in this old world be Lascauxs saviour and what effect does this have on the present day ...
