Smile is the pilot episode for a new series written, directed and produced by Temple students Jonah Cooper, Saba Aregai, Kevin Manley and David Schneider. The program was developed as a part of the Department of Media Studies and Production (MSP) Producing and Directing and Graduate TV Production courses taught by Professor Kristine Trever Weatherston. This dark comedy follows Nathan, a down on his luck guy who becomes involved with a bizarre group that believe in an all-powerful Smile.
Nathan Farris is a loser and on the verge of ending it all. His life is saved by a girl named Sonya, who introduces him to a cult called the "Children of the Smile". Nathan is skeptical about the beliefs of this group and is determined to find out why Sonya joined them. He meets their leader, who they call "Father Wilmore", and begins to see what is really going on.
